Chapter 22. The Hunt
“Get it! Run after it!”
Kristain laughed, running with wild abandon as he chased after the deer. He loved these moments – where he could feel like a bird, even in his human form, without shifting and hunting as he wanted. The poor animal sensed danger and ran, its long thin legs jumping over the fields, its breath wheezing painfully out of its lungs as its eyes rounded with horror in fear of the grim reaper.
Sean jumped in front of the deer, scaring it crazy, and laughed as it made a detour in fright, right into the hands of a waiting Larian who held it up by the neck, grabbing onto it and stifling out its breath as his hands crushed its neck.
Kristain smiled as he walked towards the struggling pair of the human and animal and flexed his fingers, his claws popping out. With a fluid grace he had learned through mastery over the years, he slashed the belly of the animal, silencing its whimpers.
Larian grinned and dropped the deer as it sagged in his arms, fight
