Chapter 21. Old Times
Mr. Bennett chuckled as he leaned into his seat and swirled the bourbon in his glass, his eyes twinkling yet full of thoughts as he stared at his friend, Casildo.
“She will be fine,” he said, consoling him.
Casildo sighed, his head bowed with regret and sadness, his expression ever since he had come back from his daughter’s room. “I hope she is.”
Mr. Bennett took a sip of his drink, swallowed, swimming in his thoughts, and placed the glass back on the desk. “You said she wasn’t sick, right?”
Casildo shook his head. “No, she wasn’t. I would have smelled something odd off her if she was.”
“Why are you worried then, my friend?” Bennett sighed, hating the despair in his eyes.
Casildo breathed in deeply and exhaled slowly. “I’m afraid there is something she is not telling me.”
“Like?” Mr. Bennett prompted.
Casildo shrugged. “I have no idea of what that is, and that is what I am trying to figure out. I feel too bad that I have neglected that
