“I will take you to the palace and…”

“You are not listening to me are you?”

“Christine, this child? That’s all I got. I need to have one reason, just one to continue existing. I feel like my life has no purpose but with this baby? At least I’ll fight to stay alive to protect it.”

I think she could see how broken I was because she did not argue with me after that. She also did not comment when I told her how I intended to get us out of the situation we were in and as I disguised her and led her to the palace, she did not protest.

I hid her in my room and hoped that Lord Christopher would not discover what I had done before it was time. This was all possible because he had been away from home most likely with his mistress or doing something evil somewhere. When he arrived the following week, I did not go to see him in the house like I usually did. The next time I saw him was at court. It was clear that something was troubling him.
