Thallus’s POV

A deal was made. I did not exactly trust Lord Christopher but I trusted his greed. He could not kill his wife so he had kept her hostage. If he had then he would no longer have a claim to his title.

I had also made it very clear that if he should kill my child who was technically going to be his grandchild, I would stop at nothing to ruin his life without caring about the consequences. I had told him categorically that if I lost my child I had nothing else to lose and he did not want to mess with a man who had nothing to lose.

Indeed we were at an impasse. He could not stand to lose his position and I could not lose mine at least not without finding out who Keenan was.

Months later Christine gave birth to the most beautiful baby that ever existed. I had loved her from the moment I had known about her but when she was born and I cradled her in my arms, I fell in love with her again.

I named her Matilda after my mother’s middle name.
