Chapter 49. Spy and Drugs
Marcus’s POV
Coming out of the Alpha’s room, I massaged my temples. Today was hectic. I heightened my steps as I walked to the council hall.
Pushing the door open, the elders were all seated. I bowed slightly. “Greetings to the elders,” I murmured.
“Oh, Marcus is here. Let’s start the meeting,” Elder Theron’s eager voice was what I heard before I went to take a seat.
Before my ass could touch the seat, they already started, “So the full moon is tonight, and we need to get the wood cleansed, so I need someone to volunteer to do that,” Elder Rowon said, darting his eyes across the room.
Elder Theron cleared his throat. “Since Marcus is the closest to the Alpha, he can handle that preparation. I would have chosen Edwin, but we all know he is the one performing the ritual,” he said.
The room fell into silence. I clenched my fist tightly. I knew this cunning man. I wondered what he had under his sleeves today.
