Chapter 149. Beasts of Veilwood

In my dream world the sky was pitch black. The moon had long since set, leaving only a dim yellow light glowing faintly in the distance. I looked down nervously, trying desperately to ignore my rising panic.

The landscape below was entirely unfamiliar to me—the grass that surrounded me looked as if it was woven from spun gold, and the trees surrounding me looked like gigantic twisted branches stretching from the ground upwards.

The air felt different, too. It had an almost electrifying quality to it, as though it held traces of something sinister lurking just below the surface. As I surveyed the surroundings apprehensively, I noticed that the trees closest to me had started swaying slightly, as if in an unseen breeze. Although it was difficult to tell, the air felt slightly warmer than it should have been.
