Chapter 180. A Face from the Past
“Saelyna, it’s ok.” Her ears perked up at hearing Rachel whispering to her, calming her rapidly beating heart; she let go of one of her fists and wrapped it protectively around Rachel’s waist. Saelyna felt Rachel stroke the top of her head with her fingers gently, and it soothed her immensely, as if she was the most important person in the world to Rachel.
After a couple of minutes passed, Rachel withdrew her arms and took a step back. “Let’s get you home.” She offered, extending a hand toward Saelyna. The younger woman grasped Rachel’s hand gratefully and allowed her to lead her through the forest; they didn’t speak, nor did they exchange looks, for Saelyna couldn’t bear to look directly into Rachel’s beautiful hazel-colored eyes. Noticing her reluctance, Rachel decided to fill in the gaps. “You don’t have to talk. I just need to keep you company. Is that okay?”
