Chapter 25
She ran as fast as her legs allowed, without looking back, venturing further into the desert. When she was sure she was far enough from the camp, she collapsed on the sand, feeling it penetrate the folds of her clothing. Tears quickly joined her, streaming down her cheeks in torrents. For a few seconds of unconsciousness, it almost sounded like her heart was breaking, which was biologically impossible because hearts are made of a sort of viscous mass similar to marzipan, so they cannot break. However, emotionally, it was possible to feel it.
Perfect! Even when she was miserable, her brain kept sending her messages of logic. She didn't know whether to be scared or glad about it.
