Destiny generally guides you through decisions you must make to supposedly attain a kind of astral wisdom. This means that each thing you do is predestined; there is no such thing as "What if..." Extra options are not valid; if something happened a certain way, it's because it was meant to be that way, at least that's what the Egyptians believed.
Elizabeth's opinion wasn't too far off. She believed in destiny and occasionally told it to go to hell.
