Chapter 53. Wanting to Cheer up
Veronica's sobs came to an abrupt stop as her brain registered what I said while I felt like my heart stopped beating.
I only wanted her to stop crying. I really didn't want to do this. Not here. Not now. Oh, my gosh, someone, please kill me. God, make me invisible. How embarrassing!
“I, uh, I will go get freshened up,” I said and dashed out of my room without even taking my clothes or whatsoever.
I stopped running when I was at the end of the hallway and breathed out, “I'm an idiot. A complete idiot. Why did I say that?” I literally started banging my head on the wall.
“Sir?” I stopped hitting my head when I heard the confused voice of a maid. “Do you want us to serve breakfast for Ma'am Veronica and you?” I noticed the slight distaste in her voice when she uttered Veronica's name.
“No, there's no need. I will make breakfast today. Also, I'm giving everyone off for the day,” I told her.
