Chapter 9. Lockup
"The number you are dialing—" I hung up the call while pacing around the living room back and forth.
It was past midnight, and Aaron had not returned yet. He wasn't even answering his phone. If it wasn't for my ominous words this morning, I wouldn't have been this worried. Where must have he gone in this unknown faraway place?
I tried watching movies and playing video games the whole day, yet I couldn't concentrate. What if something happened to Aaron? I would have to become a widow. People would totally think I was a bad omen in his life, which would be really bad for my career.
I was trying to think of a way to get to know his location when a bulb of an idea lit up in my head. I quickly called a cab and grabbed my jacket before leaving the bungalow.
I had to walk a long way over water until I reached the main street where a cab was waiting for me. Getting inside, I ordered, "Please take me to the closest police station."
