Ashlene left the site storming like a hurricane. I felt the tension lift up from the air the moment she did, and everyone else surely felt it, too.
The architect walked towards my direction and tapped me on the shoulder.
“Nicely handled, sir,” he said.
“You too, architect. You sounded like a lawyer back there.”
He chuckled.
“I actually had two years in law school, sir. I’m glad I can still remember some stuff.”
I’m impressed. I could have told him I’m planning to give him a raise but I guess it’s better to let his paycheck speak for itself. After all, that would be my greatest form of gratitude to him and his team.
The man who whispered something to him earlier came closer to where I was standing. I guess he’s saying something?
“Good day, sir. May I talk to you for a while?”
