Chapter 162. Warning Signs

It was 10 in the evening, and the rain was still pouring.
“Do you need a raincoat or something, sir?” Pearl got out of her room. I thought she was already asleep?
“Nah. it’s fine. It’s only a small rain,” I replied.
She nodded and stayed in her spot at the front door.
The call from Lyle instructed me to meet him at the nearest café. I don’t know what made it so urgent that we cannot reschedule it until tomorrow. The point is, it’s already late in the evening, and the road could be dangerous for driving.
I got inside the car and texted him I was coming. He also said he was on his way. Based on the distance from the mansion to the café, I think he’ll be the first one to arrive.
The road is indeed slippery and instead of my usual speed of driving, I have to slow down every now and then. The diligence I have to observe has to be higher. Accidents usually happen at night, and that’s the last thing I want to happen now.
