Chapter 33. What’s in a Name?

The night aged before our eyes. Ashlene said she preferred to stay up now since she had some time. As for tomorrow, she only had a few things to do, a few places to go.
After greeting most of the visitors, she found her place right next to me again. Me, being the introvert between us, only limited my interaction with the people to the usual ‘hi’ and ‘hello.’ Most of them were still the same people from the night before anyway, which meant they were here when the Ridley family was being recognized by Seth… and my name didn’t make the list. I didn’t know what some of them were thinking about that.
Beside me, Ashlene sighed.
“Tired already?” I asked.
“No. Just feeling a little sad… I mean look at that jar. It’s too small. How can that jar contain the person I grew up with? How can that jar know all of these people? It’s weird if I think of it… but how can someone just not be there?”
