Chapter 68. Outbursts
DYLAN
I held Ashlene’s hand on the table.
“Don’t mind it, Ash. It’s kind of true, anyway. I should’ve been more diligent,” I said. It was necessary to say it.
Anton leaned back on his seat with a smirk and opened his arms.
“See? He knows it was his fault. You don’t need to defend him,” Anton directed the statement to his sister.
“You’re such an ass,” Ashlene muttered.
“Enough!” Seth shouted, and once again, I was deafened. There were no other persons in the room. I hope they can just talk to each other in a calm and composed voice.
“I’m sorry, Dad,” Anton apologized.
Lyle was quiet. I couldn’t tell what’s his facial reaction because until now, I’m still avoiding his gaze. I don’t think I can look at him normally. I don’t think I can do that… ever.
Just like perfect timing, the door opened and Jeff came in with other two waiters. They were carrying round trays with their right hands raised over their heads.
Our table quieted
