Chapter 24. Frozen

Blake’s POV

Frozen. That’s the only word I could use to describe what came next.

Everything was frozen: my pounding heart, Andrew on his knees, and the background music. Time stood still as I tried to process it all.

“Blake?” Drew called finally, breaking me out of the spell. “My knees are beginning to hurt a little bit here,” he tried to make light of the situation.

Still, I couldn’t make a sound.

“Babe, what’s wrong?” he asked in genuine concern.

Rather than answer him, I jumped out of my seat and dashed for the elevator. He was after me for a bit, but he could do nothing but call my name as the elevator door closed.

I texted Liam immediately. “Get the car ready.”

As soon as the elevator doors opened, I came face to face with Liam, who had a questioning look on his face.

“Well, that was quick,” he said, referring to my short dinner.

I ignored him and made my way straight to the car.
