Liana’s POV
Tears streamed down her cheeks and pain in her eyes. The kind that squeezed my chest and knocked my breath out of my lungs. The kind I never wanted to see on her again.
I didn’t ask what happened. I didn’t ask who hurt her. I just pulled her into me because that was the only thing that felt right.
She collapsed against my chest, her fingers gripping my shirt as if she was trying to stop herself from falling apart. Her sobs came hard and shaky, soaking through the fabric. I didn’t care. I held her tighter, rubbing her back slowly, wishing I could take whatever pain she was carrying and break it over my own shoulders instead.
She cried until she couldn’t anymore.
When she finally pulled away, she wiped her face quickly, looking embarrassed.
