Chapter 119. The Dinner Date: pt. 1

Lucas’s POV

I went to the office alone that morning because Lena had to go help my mom and my aunt with my Grandmother’s birthday preparations. The office felt so boring because I had gotten so used to her being around. I was praying that the time went faster so I could go back home to see her.

It was getting close to the end of the working hours and I couldn’t wait to leave. My phone buzzed on the table and I checked to see that it was Austin calling.

I sighed and answered anyway. “What do you want?”

His laughter filled my ear instantly. “Wow, straight to business. Someone’s grumpy.”

“I’m busy,” I replied flatly. I wanted to finish my work as fast as I could and he was serving as a distraction.

“Relax. I just wanted to share some good news,” he said, his tone far too pleased with himself. “I took Daisy out today and tried to cheer her up about the whole Madison issue, and I’m really glad it worked. She totally went back to her usual self.
