Chapter 161. He’s Gone
Ian’s POV
The moment the guard relayed Lucas’s message that he wanted everyone in Grandfather’s study Uncle Zayne let out a low, knowing laugh.
That was when I knew what was going on.
“He’s gone,” I muttered.
Uncle Zayne didn’t even look surprised. If anything, there was a grim calm in his eyes, the kind a man wore when he’d already expected the worst and prepared for it anyway.
“Yes,” he said quietly. “He was always going to do this no matter what I say, so it was only right that I prepared for it.”
No one moved toward the stairs. No one asked to check Lucas’s room. There was no point in doing that.
Austin and Gray were with the ladies in the other room while Xavier stepped out to sort some things at work, leaving just me and Uncle Zayne alone.
Uncle Zayne stood up and motioned me to come with him as he walked in the direction of his private study. When we got in, he shut the door behind us, locking it, before crossing the room
