Lena’s POV
My hands wouldn’t stop shaking as I adjusted my dress in front of the mirror.
No matter how many times I tried to steady them, no matter how many deep breaths I forced into my lungs, the tremor remained, an ugly reminder that my body knew what my mind was trying so hard to deny.
If everything doesn’t go my way in the courtroom, it would be the end of me.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, my face was pale and there was dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep.
I looked nothing like a Luna or a doctor who was being praised months ago for incredible skills. I looked like a woman standing at the edge of a cliff, trying to convince herself she wasn’t about to fall.
I had just two hours before the court hearing. Two hours before a judge decided whether I was an innocent woman being framed, or a criminal who deserved to rot.
