Lena’s POV
Austin made me wait in his office until Lucas’ mother stepped out of the hospital.
“You should go now,” he said quietly. “She’ll be back soon.”
I nodded, even though my legs felt unsteady. The walk to Lucas’s room felt longer than it ever had before. Every step echoed with memories, his laughter, his anger, his silence, his love. By the time I reached the door, my chest was already aching.
I pushed it open and my heart shattered into a million pieces.
