Lena’s POV
I grabbed the tissue box from the table and pressed it into Liana’s hands as Daisy rubbed her back. Her sobs grew louder and all we could do was sit close, offering what little comfort we could.
We didn’t want to say too much because we were scared of saying the wrong thing.
“Liana, What’s wrong?” Daisy whispered softly. “Come on, talk to us.”
Through the blur of her tears, Liana shook her head. “I just…I suddenly remembered my parents.”
Her words cracked something in me. Daisy and I exchanged a glance but said nothing, letting her take her time.
When her breathing was finally steadied, she wiped her face and stared down at her hands.
“What is it?” I asked.
“It’s a long story.” She sniffed.
“We have the whole night.” Daisy shrugged.
She let out a deep breath and looked up to meet our gazes. “It’s about how Ian and I got together.”
