I had always known this day would come someday. The day she would turn and ask me about her father.

But I wasn’t expecting it to come like this. Not when she had just come back to me after I almost lost her.

Deep down in my heart, I had hoped that Mason would be able to fill her void of not having a father so that she would never ask about her father.

I turned to Mason with pleading eyes hoping that he could save me from this situation.

Mason understood me and hesitated before he nodded.

“Hello, princess,” he whispered, sitting with her and holding onto her hand. “Why don’t we put that aside for now? You just woke up,

you need to rest properly so you can leave the hospital.”

“Will you really tell me when I leave the hospital?” Sophie asked

Mason grinned, and his face didn’t split. “I swear when we get home we’ll sit down and work on anything you want to learn. Okay?”
