Chapter 18. Worth the Risk

Edward returned his gaze to her. "What?" He cocked his head, squinting his eyes as if attempting to figure out what she was talking about.

"The tragedy of your father's accident?" Mila didn't wait on Edward's response; instead, she immediately brushed the thoughts aside. 

"Oh, I'm sure you didn't. I think it's just my mind playing tricks on me again." She chuckled, having finally caught up to Edward and was now walking alongside him. 

"But you must admit that we share far too many similarities in our lives, such as being orphaned together. It's as though we were destined to meet… or maybe destined to each other." Mila giggled and winked at him.

Edward smiled. "Maybe."

"I bet it is. But everything takes time. Maybe you don't notice your feelings for me right now, but you will sooner or later."
