For a moment, my mind went blank. Not to talk of how my chest began rising up. I slowly pushed the door open. The two turned their faces toward me. I was confused at their words. Or maybe I didn’t hear them well.
“Rose,” Ian said, looking surprised. The expression on Hunter’s face was that of a shocked expression.
“What…did I hear you discussing?” I uttered, pointing to the two.
“Look, Rose, I can explain,” Hunter leaped forward, and I shifted back, making him stop in his tracks.
“My father is not my biological father?” I muffled out disbelievingly. “How is that possible? Tell me that’s not the truth?” I said, looking at both of them with hope that either of them would tell me I didn’t hear correctly.
“We will tell you everything, but you need to calm down first,” Ian said, marching up to where Hunter was standing.
“I want nothing but the truth. Tell me, who is Bennett, and why is he connected to me?”
