If I said I expected Rose to be back at that moment, I would be lying. I know I told her I’d come pick her up later when I’m done sorting things out. But the look she gave me scared the living soul out of me. For the first time, I was scared. Scared of her leaving my life. At that moment, I knew what I felt for her isn’t just sympathy. What I felt for her is something strong. I’d fallen for her. It happened in a short amount of time. I couldn’t bring myself to move an inch from where I was standing. I was numb. My mouth was sealed.
“Are you going to stand there and watch her leave?” Ian’s voice resonated in my eardrums. With the words she threw at me, I doubted if she’d want to listen to me. The look in her eyes, a look of disdain. Disappointment, pain, and every other thing I could find myself to think of.
“There’s no use,” I muttered out finally, mustering the courage to crash down on my office couch.
