Chapter 37
Alessandro’s POV
I wished the wisp of smoke dangling around in front of me were one of my problems. With a small huff or the wave of my hand, I could easily get it out of the way and it would feel like it never happened.
But Dons didn’t make wishes, and I wasn’t going to be the first. They made things work, especially in their favor, and that’s what I was going to do now.
I hung back in the back of my car, allowing the wispy scent to cloud my mind and senses. The last thing they did was derail my judgment, and I guess it only made sense that I liked taking a huge puff—especially before an important appointment.
The world around me was still, and while I waited for the next step, I took that as an opportunity to take in my surroundings and reflect.
There was nothing to reflect on, aside from the fact that time was running out. Even though I didn’t exactly like admitting it, there was a nagging voice at the back of my mind that wouldn’t let me be.
