Ethan’s POV

“Let me go.”

“I am sorry.” I breathe out. I feel relieved when she looks at me in astonishment, and I continue. “Look, I went out of line, and this is me saying, Sorry.”

I can’t believe I just apologized to someone other than my sons; they were the only people I have ever apologized to. An agonizing silence spreads in the car. Avery doesn’t even say anything and looks away when I say my words.

“Can’t you say something? Anything?” I ask, trying to mask the feeling of anxiety in me.

She casts a glance at me before looking forward. “I need to go to my apartment. We are still in the middle of the road. I know you are very well connected, but…”

“I will drop you off.” I interrupt, not wanting to hear the rest of her words. She was beginning to annoy me, and I had to control myself from snapping at her.

She calls out the address, and I type in the address into the navigator. The distance indicator on the navigation system started
