Avery’s POV

I watched dumbfoundedly as he walked past me into the bedroom and started to take off his clothes. I followed behind him. “At least, we are married friends with benefits who are co-parenting, aren’t we?” I almost cringed saying that, but it was closest to the truth, at least.

“And there is a contract that states you have to be a faithful and obedient wife to me, isn’t it?”

I felt my mood change the moment he mentioned the contract. It was as if I were given a heavy slap on the face. I managed to put on a neutral look and fake a smile. “Of course, I could never forget about it.”
