“Do you mean to say that I’m not worthy enough to be their father even after you rejected me?!”

The words hung heavily in the air, like a double-edged sword, piercing straight through Talon’s chest.

There was really no way out of this, was there?

The truth would be revealed soon, and everything would be over. Nothing else would matter anymore. Not even the fact that he had been willing to give up everything just to be with her. Once she found out that he had been manipulating her all this while, she would forget about all the sacrifices he had made.

Zevara’s brows furrowed in confusion. “What do you mean by I rejected you?” she asked, genuinely confused about what exactly he was talking about.

The king gritted his fangs, clearly annoyed by the fact that she kept denying everything. He had known her to be many things, but definitely not a full-blown liar. “Didn’t you say you wanted nothing to do with me anymore?”
