‘He’s getting brave, coming into our towns to attack,’ I tell Simon in the mind-link.

We’re in wolf form for faster travel now that Assanan is actively attacking one of our settlements. We need to stop him now with every warrior we can spare. We’ll worry about supplies later, which have been dispatched in wagons behind us.

‘More like foolish,’ he answers. ‘It’s one thing to hit our infrastructure. But attacking a town that’s ruled by Alpha King Cassian means Assanan has either lost his mind or has a death wish.’
