Chapter 10

It was finally Friday and the school was at its noisiest. The loud chattering of students and slamming of lockers made for a terrible combination as the noise infiltrated my ears, causing me to grimace at every unpleasant sound I heard. I overheard some people having a verbal fight in a room close to me but I couldn't make out their voices, some others were excitedly making plans to party all weekend, while some argued pointlessly. I groaned, desperately wishing that the bell would ring so everyone would scurry off to their classes and the school could be quiet again.

"Here," Andre said as he handed me a pair of earplugs. "These should help you block out the noise."

"Thanks."

"Can you hear me?" He asked after I put in the earplugs.

"Yeah, but the noise is muffled now."

"You shouldn't be able to hear anything though, but I guess it's cause you have super hearing."

"It's not super hearing, it's heightened senses," I corrected and he waved his hand d
