Chapter 28. Splurging on Her

Brooklyn got up and escaped to the kitchen to rinse her cup and get a grip on her emotions. Agitated and upset, Nikolas followed her into the kitchen, his heart constricting seeing her upset.

“Brooklyn, pray that we find him here. The cops had called me yesterday to inform me they had traced Brandon to the nearby city of Woodburn.” Brooklyn whirled around and gazed into his eyes; her eyes wide with shock. With Nikolas just inches away from her, she placed her soft palms on his chest with a desperate and pleading look in her eyes.

“Please Mr. Ardolf, let’s get him,” she pleaded, searching his eyes. A pensive and worried Nikolas gazed at her upturned face, unsure about her reaction to the rest of the news. He knew that the news of Brandon’s abduction would shock her more, but he had to inform her, since her life was also at stake.
