Chapter 33. Call Me Nikolas
“Oh, I’m sorry that I’m late. It won’t happen again, sir.”
“Sit down, Brooklyn,” he ordered, losing his patience. Was he such a devil to her she kept apologizing for no fault of hers?
Brooklyn went to the table and sat down meekly. She was thinking of getting herself some coffee, but now she felt like a school student reprimanded by the principal. Nikolas appeared in a few minutes with a steaming cup of coffee and some choco chip cookies and placed them in front of her.
“For you,” he said, making a stunned Brooklyn gaze up into his beautiful hazel eyes and, for the first time in her life, she saw some strange emotion reflected there. It wasn’t the usual anger, hatred, disgust, or disappointment. It was as if he cared for her, as if he almost liked her! In a split second, he shuttered his emotions and indifference replaced the look as he tore his gaze away from hers.
“Thank you, sir,” she breathed.
