“Congratulations, your wife is two months pregnant,” the doctor announces, and I freeze, completely stunned. Of all the possibilities I had considered, this was nowhere on my list.  

Nadine is married—to Logan West, a powerful and ruthless billionaire. I’ve heard plenty about him.  

The news has been buzzing about a huge auction she recently won, an entire island. But nothing explains why she left him, why she ended up here in Canada, or why she never told me any of this herself.  

We run background checks on all our new employees. It’s a necessary step—to avoid hiring someone with a questionable past.  

So now, standing here, hearing that she’s pregnant, everything clicks into place. Logan West has to be the father.
