FEYRE

I slowly regain consciousness, my head throbbing with a relentless ache.

My vision is blurry and the world around me seems to sway. Like a ship caught in the middle of a turbulent storm. Images flash in the back of my eyes, and the swaying gets worse.

I tried to blink it back, or move my hand and try to fight back to the shore. Something keeps dragging me down. Water, perhaps?

No, that can't be right. I'm on something, lying down. I shut my eyes again, breathing out through my mouth gently.

There is a whooshing sound in my ear. It is so loud that I can't seem to hear anything but it.

The taste of copper still lingers in my lips. How did I get that? I know I didn't hurt my mouth.

It must have been from when I fell. The thought is so random and it doesn't seem to fit with my current reality. I can't remember falling.
