Chapter 12
Justin made his way to the balcony, wondering if he ought to bring over some snacks as a peace offering. He didn’t know how upset she would be, so he figured he needed as much help as he could get. Which is why he decided to take something along and nicked a few brownies from the table.
“Hey” he said to Anna’s back.
She didn’t hear; she was facing away from him and towards the busy street with her ears plugged in. The breeze lifted some strands of her hair off her face. She was basking in the cool wind of the day, enjoying some quiet time, completely forgetting that she was at her own celebration party.
“Anna? Hey, it’s Justin,” Justin said, louder this time. Some of his words filtered through her music, and she opened her eyes. “Oh, hey, Justin.” She plucked a brownie from his palm. “How’s it going? I was just thinking that I wanted another one, thanks.” She lifted it to her mouth just as the thought of asking Justin about the mystery girl entered her mind. ‘Oh, b
