Chapter 13
“Mom!?”
“In the flesh,” Christine stepped forward to hug her daughter, but Anna stepped backwards, crossing her hands together in front of her chest. “What are you doing here?”
Christine dropped her hands and shrugged. “I guess I deserved that. I came here to talk things out, though, so aren’t you going to let me in?”
Anna eyed her mother wearily. She had hoped she would be able to prep for the interview and get some sleep early, but now Chris had come over to disturb her.
“Make it quick, please; I have a busy day tomorrow,” she said as she stepped sideways for her mother to enter the apartment.
Christine scoffed. “You have a busy day tomorrow? You haven’t had a busy day in months! And why aren’t you wearing any decent clothes? Do you go around opening doors for anyone dressed like that?”
