Chapter 137. What We Don’t Say
The evening air was cool as Beck and Hayden walked away from the press.
Hayden looked exhausted, as if the press conference had been the final straw that sucked the remainder of all his energy. “God,” he muttered after a long yawn. “I think when I get back to the hospital, I should request them to medically induce me too.”
Beck chuckled, also sounding as tired as him. “Please don’t. We almost went crazy the last time that had to be done to you,” he muttered as he opened the back passenger door for him. “You and that damned surgery that took years off our lives.”
Hayden shivered at the memory of the cold surgical table on his back before the anesthesia hit. “God, who would believe that it’s barely been a year,” he muttered under his breath as he climbed in. “It feels like decades ago with all this shit that’s happened.”
