Chapter 53. Afraid of the Newfound Feelings

Genevieve’s POV

I stared at him dumbly, blinking my eyes several times and trying to process his words. Owen always had a blank look on his face including his eyes. They always looked dark, threatening, and devoid of any warmth but right now, I could see the emotions that were swirling in them. But I wasn’t sure what they were. Was I still in a daze after the kiss?

"Won’t you respond?" he whispered, finally making me voice out what I was thinking.

"You think you like me?" I asked, emphasizing the keyword ‘think.’ It meant he wasn’t sure. He took my hand in his and gently placed it on his chest. I glanced up at him in surprise, his heart was beating at a very fast pace.
