Chapter 41
I woke up with a fright. I noticed I was sweating too. Even the air wafting through the openings of the window, penetrating the holes in the quite dirty curtains, and filling the room wasn’t enough to stop beads from forming behind the back of my head. I could even feel a bead stretch and cascade down my back, causing the wound there to pinch in pain. The sweat wasn’t the only thing I noticed. I stared down at my hands; they were quaking with nerves, as was my whole body. I was feeling strange and quite unlike me. It was almost unnoticeable, but I felt it—the surge of strength and something else. I couldn’t really put a finger on what it actually was, but it felt kind of ethereal. Why was I feeling this way? What was happening to me? Just then, a motion flashed through my mind, and I was suddenly remembering the dream I had.
