Hazel's POV

Blood was trickling down my back and arm. And to say it hurt like hell was an understatement. I was steeped in pain. I was familiar with the torment of pain. I was drowning in pain. If I wanted to wade out of this pain, it would have been a near impossible task to perform. But even if I could get out of it, I didn’t want to.

Somewhere within, I wanted the pain to bring me to my end. Deep inside, I wanted to end it all. To cease breathing. To stop feeling. To just perish with the knowledge of what Alpha Lokris was going to do to me if he came back.

I didn’t know what other kind of truth he wanted from me. What I had told him was the truth. Mama Lia had died on the floor of her kitchen in the morning. She had died preparing breakfast.
