“When was the last time you saw her?” asked the policeman, taking out a notepad and tape recorder. Richard felt he had to be careful now.

“I’m not sure. I think it was when she accused me of molesting her. After she lied to the public about it, I never wanted to see her again,” Richard answered firmly.

“Did she ever contact you afterward by text or phone?” asked the previously silent policeman.

Richard knew this was a trick question. The cops must have checked the call register, so there’s no way they wouldn’t know Gina called him yesterday. If Richard lied about that, he would be in big trouble.
