The gods really liked to marry other creatures they found attractive. Their eternal life was so dull that when they traveled the world, they took the most beautiful creatures they met as wives. Some married humans, nymphs, and forest fairies; mermaids were no exception. Not only gods; goddesses could marry the handsome creatures they liked. Legends recorded many such incidents. Poseidon, the god of the sea, was one of the gods who often married sea creatures.
“Poseidon married a mermaid, and a special mermaid was born. The power they hold does not disappear even to the next generation,” said Richard, remembering the legend he had heard.
