Chapter 11. Beside You
Oliver and I were closer to thirty than Micheala was, and she did this job full-time. She was the kind of person who would always tell you that you could do anything you set your mind to.
“I’ll give you a hand. You’re a good guard, Chloe, and you’ll be a good teacher. I keep telling you to go take your instructor’s training so that you can teach the teens who come to lifeguarding.”
"But I like teaching little kids." I mumble.
"They’re cute, no question. But I think you’re ready for this because I think you’d be great at it." I sigh when she tells me that.
"Alright." I shrug. I had to stop being afraid of everything all the time.
"Okay, go home and sleep. See you when you return!" I nod, and she smiles. I grab my bag and leave the pool. Oliver is going the other way, so I give him a wave and turn around.
