Chapter 15. Party
My last social outing was quite some time ago. Most of my high school pals now spend the summers working or doing research in their college cities, but there’s always a party when they return home. Tonight, I had to put forth extra effort to be sociable and make new friends.
I recently showered and blow-dried my hair. It dries slightly wavy every time, but tonight I decided to embrace the natural look. I remember as a kid desperately trying to straighten it, but now I rather like the crooked appearance.
I choose to dress modestly so as not to attract undue attention to myself. I opted for a tank top and shorts as the weather forecast predicted high temperatures. I go and get my old pair of Converse and lace them up. My waist pouch is the very last thing I reach for. I was able to grab a few essentials before heading out the door.
