Chapter 64. More Whiskey

We arrived back in the pack and the feeling of belonging that I was once feeling vanished as if it had never been there before. Now I felt like something was missing but I just did not know how to describe it.

The driver parked the car next to the other cars in the compound of the villa. We all got down but I was the last one to get out of the vehicle. I did not mind, it was not like we were having any kind of conversation with each other anyway.

Everyone was still quiet, barely saying a word to each other. Mark and Cassie walked into the villa and it seemed like Zach was waiting for me. When I reached the front porch, he looked at me and smiled sadly.

“I don’t feel okay,” He confessed, and my heart ached for him. “I feel like I keep making things worse even though I wanna make them right. I keep messing up, Rue. I don’t know how to do anything right, and I…I don’t know how to turn off this heaviness in my chest.”

Why was he telling me all of this?
