Chapter 66. Where Are We Going?
In a way, this was the first home that I have ever had. The orphanage was definitely not what I would like to call a home.
“I—” I did not even know what to say. My mouth was dry and it felt like I had a knot in my throat. “I’m sorry,” I could not help but say.
“You’re sorry?” Vanessa scoffed. “Oh no, you’re not. Not only did you lie your way into our lives, you’re now making everything so complicated. You’re ruining it all!” She looked pissed.
I was about to speak but then someone appeared on the open day. It was Mark. I felt relieved but then anxiety hit me like a truck again when I saw the look on the guy’s face. “Rue,” He acknowledged me as he walked past me and into the room.
I lingered at the door, making sure to keep it open.
