Chapter 6
I spent the next days strolling mindlessly around the city, but every corner echoed with the memories of us. The city seemed to conspire against my healing, each familiar place a painful reminder of what we once had.
That was when I came up with a spontaneous idea to escape, at least for a couple of days. A random trip seemed a perfect break from everything that was happening in my life. It was not easy to hide the feelings of betrayal I felt after Lucas cheated on me.
Even sleeping with Vince had not solved my problem. It had not made me feel better in any way.
“I want to travel,” I informed Vince.
Vince looked at me, and I could see the wave of unhappiness that swept through his face. “Promise me that you are going to be fine.”
“I am going to be fine,” I said to him, rolling my eyes.
His grip on my hand tightened for a moment before he reluctantly released it. “Okay, but promise me you’ll stay in touch. Don’t disappear without a word.”
