Lena didn't scream in pain during the session. The witch said it was a good sign. I felt grateful. Maybe the herbs Lena had been taking had taken effect. But I didn't feel at ease until Lena woke up. When Lena opened her eyes, she quickly sat up on the bed. She touched her chest and felt her racing heart. Lena drank a glass of water that Isabella gave her and looked at me.
I don't know how to explain the look Lena gave me. She had never looked at me like that before. I felt a deep connection in her eyes. I felt like I could see beyond the pain and resentment we both had for each other. For a moment, it was as if nothing else in the world existed. I fell into the illusion that nothing bad had happened between us.
